Welcome To New York: American Idol S14E04 Recap

Last week we saw the best that Kansas City had to offer, and now we’re headed to see if New York really is what dreams are made of. We open with a not-at-all set up shot of J-Lo strolling through her old block (where the diva was hilariously dissed out the front of her old apartment) before heading to the judging room, with Idol alum Adam Lambert filling in for Keith Urban (and the first sighting of the embarrassing #TurnUpForIdol hashtag).

First audition off the rank is Sal; a jazz singing, suit wearing, possible relation to Fat Tony. Between winning bets with Harry Connick Jr and hitting on Jennifer, he serenades the group with a Frank Sinatra classic, on which he wins a golden ticket.

Paramore’s Hayley Williams Is Engaged!

In a pop-punk match made in heaven, Paramore front woman Hayley Williams rang in her 2015 with an engagement ring, confirming she is set to marry longtime partner, New Found Glory’s Chad Gilbert.

Breaking the news in quirky fashion, Hayley tweeted out a photoshopped pic of herself and Chad as newlyweds adding “Hey, guess what?” New Years Day, prompting fans and some of their famous friends to send their congratulations.

The Rubens Set For A New Album In July

Indie darlings, The Rubens, have been a little quiet of late, but it’s for a good cause – they’re working on their next album!

Recording in New York, the five-piece are crafting the follow-up to their 2012 self-titled debut record, and if front-man Sam Margin has his way, it’ll be ready just in time for Splendour in The Grass 2015.

Jared Leto Reportedly Set To Play The Joker

What do Jared Leto, Jack Nicolson and the late Heath Ledger have in common? Aside from all being Oscar winners, they will all have played the iconic Batman villain The Joker if rumours are to be believed.

The 30 Seconds to Mars frontman has reportedly been chosen as the favourite for the role, with TheWarp reporting that Warner Bros. wants him to don the twisted clown costume for the upcoming film, Suicide Squad scheduled for release in 2016. Jared had previously been rumoured to play Doctor Strange, but it was revealed recently that the role had gone to Benedict Cumberbatch.

Taylor Swift To Bring Her 1989 World Tour To Australia

Continuing her monster year, Taylor Swift shows no signs of slowing down. The country icon turned full fledged pop-star has just announced that she’ll be bringing her recently announced 1989 World Tour to Australia in December 2015!

Announcing the tour via her website, the message reads “announcing THE 1989 WORLD TOUR! Kicking off in Louisiana on May 20, 2015, the tour will hit North America and Europe before heading to Australia in December 2015”. Listing the first set of dates for the tour, she added a second surprise for her US fans, releasing the news that she’s bringing along Hottest 100 winner, Vance Joy for the ride.

Taylor Swift Shakes Off Spotify

Bad news for streaming-savvy Swifties; Taylor, when she wasn’t selling 1.2+ million copies of her latest album, she quietly pulled all of her back-catalogue from Spotify.

The move came following the release of 1989 – her first step into the pop world – with the cat-loving popstar and her record label reportedly not happy with the music streaming sites payment for artists – estimated $0.007 per song play. They are the latest high profile examples of a large section of the industry that feel that streaming services are not yet in a position to fill the hole created by downloads.

British Heartthrobs Union J Are Releasing Album #2 – ‘You Got It All’

Much to the delight of squealing fan-girls, Union J have announced their second album, which is to be released next month. The Hunger Games franchise is drawing to a close and nobody is happy about it…, including J-Law! Everyone’s BFF crush, Jennifer Lawrence let it slip in a profile in this month’s Interview Magazine that if more District 9 action was written, she’d return to play Katniss Everdeen.

“I would totally do it!”, she revealed when her interview with The Theory of Everything’s Eddie Redmayne turned to her star making role. “I’m not happy about [it ending] at all”.

Matt Damon Returns To The Bourne Series In 2016

Move over Jeremy Renner; Matt Damon is returning to the Bourne Identity franchise, with Damon confirming the long-rumoured comeback after it was let slip by his long time friend Ben Affleck.

In a recent interview with E! News, Ben let it slip that the other half of Hollywood’s best bromance is “…going to be doing a Bourne movie next fall when I’ve just completely lost any semblance of physical fitness”, promoting the official announcement, which also included the news that original director Paul Greengrass will also be returning.

Australian rapstress Iggy Azalea is adding another title to her resume with a role in the upcoming Fast & Furious 7, and she is revealing all about her role!

Speaking to Access Hollywood, Iggy Azalea says she was shocked to have lines, saying “I thought that I was just going to have to wave the flag. And then, I came [to set] and I got a car and I got some lines and then my character is friends with Vin Diesel’s character, Dominic. I’m kind of the head of this monster truck crew of people, and I’m like the girl in charge and I have this big truck”.

Spotify has named Michael Jackson’s classic hit ‘Thriller’ as the number one streamed song for Halloween enthusiasts this year.

Research from the company showed that over 60,000 users chose to feature the track in Halloween-themed playlists this year, with Bobby Picket’s 1962 hit “Monster Mash” coming in at a close second.

Foo Fighters Australian Tour 2015 – NIB Stadium, Perth

The rumors are true! After months of speculations, we can reveal that famed Seattle rockers The Foo Fighters are coming to Australia for a stadium tour in 2015. The tour, which will see them visit Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Hobart, Adelaide and Perth in February and March, will celebrate the release of their eighth studio album Sonic Highways.

Supporting the group on each of their shows in Australia are fellow rockers Rise Against, and local outfit The Delta Riggs. Tickets go on sale to general public on Thursday, 13th of November. Be sure to grab your tickets quick smart, they aren’t expected to last!
