“If you don’t know we were sent to kill. Some have mentioned and said we’re ill.” It’s 2011. I’ve switched on Channel V just in time to witness this line escaping the mouth of a tattooed white guy wearing a Will Smith t-shirt. He’s rapping over an unusual musical cocktail of indie guitar, robotic synth and heavy bass, and I find myself growing more and more intrigued with every bass drop. Little do I know that it’s 360, aka Matt Colwell, and he’s rapping his single, ‘Killer’ from his soon-to-be double platinum album, Falling & Flying. Flash forward three years to Friday September 5, 2014, and I am navigating my way through an assorted crowd of avid Aussie hip hop fans that are swarming Sydney’s Hordern Pavilion to catch a glimpse of the Melbourne rapper.

It seems there’s no rest for the wicked, or at least the old impersonated the young, with the second sequel to 21 Jump Street seemingly announced this week. 23 Jump Street looks to be moving ahead in spite of recently released 22 Jump Street lampooning sequels and making fun of the idea that there could possibly more Jump Street to visit.
Movie industry site Deadline is reporting that Sony has hired writer Rodney Rothman, who penned 22 Jump Street and is also a head writer for the Late Show with David Letterman, to get to work on a sequel. Directors Phil Lord and Christopher Miller are reportedly producing the film at the very least, with the directors’ chairs theirs for the taking should they want them. Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum involvement is yet to be confirmed, but could we really revisit Jump Street without these two?
