The new Star Wars films have been marred with controversy since it’s announcement – and have been the subject of many rumours ever since – but finally, an official announcement has put the rumours to rest. In an uncharacteristic move, the title of the film was revealed in a tweet from the official movie Twitter account, and the news that principal filming has been wrapped. What’s the title? Star Wars VII: The Force Awakens.
Little is known about the plot of the film, but what is known is that the JJ Abrams-directed film features a new cast made up of Adam Driver, Andy Serkis, Lupita Nyong’o and Oscar Isaac, with cameos from original cast members Harrison Ford (Han Solo), Carrie Fisher (Princess Leia) and Mark Hammill (Luke Skywalker).
Shedding more light on the plot was a leaked set picture showed Adam Driver wearing an X-Wing fighter pilot’s uniform. It was previously rumoured that he would be playing a villian, but with this revelation, he may be fighting for the force. We’ll find out which side he’s pledged alliance to come December 18, 2015 when the film is released.
