Indie darlings, The Rubens, have been a little quiet of late, but it¡¯s for a good cause ¨C they¡¯re working on their next album!

Recording in New York, the five-piece are crafting the follow-up to their 2012 self-titled debut record, and if front-man Sam Margin has his way, it¡¯ll be ready just in time for Splendour in The Grass 2015.

¡°¡The first half of the year in Australia would be ideal [for release]¡±, he said in a recent interview with Music Feeds, ¡°I would love it in time to do Splendour¡±, adding that the band hasn¡¯t been formally asked to do the tour, but that it¡¯s high on the wishlist of spots.

While Splendour isn¡¯t until July next year, fans might have the chance to hear some of the new material with the band playing Perth¡¯s Hotel Rottnest this Sunday with The Panics.

As for a formal release date for the as-yet-untitled record, we may have to wait a little longer, but Margin promises that the record will maintain the ¡°R&B¡rock n¡¯ roll vocal mix¡±, but with a more ¡°mature¡± sound.
