For all those still mourning the finality of the Harry Potter franchise, your prayers have been answered! Warner Bros, who brought you the magic that was Harry Potter, have confirmed a spin-off trilogy of films based on JK Rowling¡¯s ¡®Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them¡¯.

The three films are scheduled to be released in November 2016, 2018 and 2020 and will also be the screenwriting debut for JK Rowling, who has ¡®expanded her relationship¡¯ with Warner Bros studios.

The trilogy has been dubbed neither a prequel nor sequel to its predecessor and for fans familiar with the book, the plot shouldn¡¯t offer too many surprises. The film is set 70 years before Harry Potter¡¯s Hogwarts experience and will follow Newt Scamander, the ¡®author¡¯ of the ¡®Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them¡¯ which makes an appearance as a textbook in the later Harry Potter series.

Both director and cast are still reportedly in talks; with the rumour mill suggesting that Harry Potter director Alfonso Cuar¨®n will make a return to the franchise, although Cuar¨®n himself has denied this. Daniel Radcliffe also stated in 2013 it would be ¡°unlikely¡± his Potter character would feature in any of the three films.
