Melbourne¡¯s favourite four-man folk-punk outfit The Smith Street Band have announced that they will play a string of headline dates across the country this November to promote their forthcoming album, Throw Me In The River.

Throw Me In The River, set for release on October 28 via Poison City Records, already has fans buzzing, and marks the third album to the band¡¯s name. Hence, The Smith Street Band are celebrating in the best way they can ¨C by playing seven shows, and bringing their unique brand of folk-punk to Australian fans.

The latest release saw the multidimensional four-piece hole up in a cottage in the Victoria¡¯s Otway Ranges to record with Bomb The Music Industry¡¯s Jeff Rosenstock as producer, Jonathon Low (War On Drugs) as mixer, and close friends Matt Voigt and Sam Johnson to engineer the record. Considered dark, but always honest, Throw Me In The River serves as a virtual passport to their global rise, with songs written in Winnipeg, Salt Lake City, Calgary, London, New York and North Melbourne, among other places.

The Smith Street Band dropped the album¡¯s first single, ¡®Surrender¡¯ on Monday (September 1). With the combination of impassioned howls from frontman Will Wagner, as he sings, ¡°You don¡¯t have to surrender, if you don¡¯t want to,¡± as well as catchy guitars and slick production, the anthemic track is an ode to self-worth.

If the new track isn¡¯t appetizing enough, then perhaps the fact that the lads from The Smith Street Band are bringing along New Jersey indie-folk-punk act The Front Bottoms and UK punk trio Apologies, I Have None will tantalize you further.

According to Rave Magazine, ¡°[Their live performance] shows why this band is being talked about so much at the moment.¡± And so, if you¡¯re a fan, or merely curious, then head over to The Smith Street Band¡¯s official website, because tickets are on sale now, and they¡¯re selling out like hotcakes.
