AJ Maddah, the man behind Soundwave Festival, has confirmed that Rise Against will be visiting Australian shores not once, but twice next year.

According to Maddah, the Chicago punk-rock outfit will tour Australia in support of another act, before returning for their own headline tour later in the year.

The tour mogul also put rumours to rest when he stressed that Rise Against would not be included in the second lineup announcement for Soundwave 2015. These rumours first ignited back in June, when Rise Against lead singer Tim McIlrath spoke with Triple J, ahead of the release of the band¡¯s seventh album, Black Market.

¡°We have a big tour planned for early 2015 and are looking at two different tours of Australia right now,¡± said McIlrath. ¡°We¡¯re either doing one or the other, they¡¯re both on the table right now and we¡¯ve just got to figure out which one makes the most sense and fits in the schedule.¡±

Asked for more details, the frontman indicated that the band were keeping their dance card free for early 2015. ¡°I think it would be February/March¡ early 2015 we¡¯ll say.¡±

Although it¡¯s unclear who Rise Against will be supporting ahead of their headline tour, their return will mark their first Australian dates since 2011, when the band, joined by New York hardcore act Sick Of It All, played a run of shows in Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth. However, this time the band will be bringing a slew of new tracks, such as ¡®I Don¡¯t Want To be Here Anymore¡¯ and ¡®Awake Too Long¡¯, to unleash onto Aussie fans.

Fans of the band should keep their eyes and ears open, because news of the upcoming tour should be unveiled relatively soon.
