While most of us spend our last year of high school writing notes, Lili Kendall has been sitting in the back row writing songs. If you haven¡¯t heard the name yet, you¡¯re sure to hear all about it, soon as the teenager¡¯s song ¡°Move¡°, saw her win the first place at this years Unsigned Only song competition (Teen Category).

Hailing from Brisbane, the 17-year-old has spent much of this year in between home, school and LA as she attempts to hit the big time. With this recent win, we¡¯re guessing the jetlag and the hard work were well worth it. ¡°I¡¯m so humbled by this win¡It¡¯s quite incredible to think my song was chosen from soo many songs from around the world.¡± The international Unsigned Only competition was open to aspiring artists who had not yet been signed to a major record label.

The win couldn¡¯t come at a better time for the Queenslander who is set to release her debut album in February 2015. Already being compared to the likes of Adele and Jessie J, Lili plans on releasing a track every month up until her album release, to keep fans refreshed with her unique sound.

The album will include competition winner, Move, along with recently released single, Run, which the artist explains, ¡°was written in a time where my career wasn¡¯t too busy and I was bored of going to school and doing the same thing everyday¡I was ready to get up and do something else with my life.¡± The track is a lot slower and much more delicate than the artist¡¯s first release as she plans to show just how versatile she can be.

The video for Run was shot in Melbourne and attracted directors Donna Yeatman and Mohini Herse who have worked with the likes of Boy and Bear and the Hungry Kids of Hungary. With this being said, the career of Kendall is well and truly taking off. If only ignoring your teacher and writing songs worked for all of us¡
