Deadmau5 has been issued with a cease and desist order by Ferrari, after the progressive powerhouse put his beloved ¡®Purarri¡¯ up for sale earlier this year.

From customised plates to badges and stickers of the colourful Nyan Cat internet meme, the Italian automakers were not ¡®feline¡¯ Deadmau5¡¯s (a.k.a. Joel Zimmerman) alterations. Hence, a lawyer for Ferrari USA forced Zimmerman to have the supercar¡¯s custom vinyl and badges removed ¨C returning his beloved 458 to its ¡°original vanilla-white paint.¡± And so, the Purrari is now just a plain ol¡¯ Ferrari.

Following the incident, Zimmerman took to Twitter to get on his soapbox about the legal issue.

¡°I wonder if the jackass lawyer at @FerrariUSA who sent us a ¡°cease and desist¡± letter over the purrari is un-butthurt now that I unwrapped¡± wrote the DJ/Producer.

He went on to say: ¡°Yeah it was mostly about the custom floor matts and the custom purrari badges. Whatever. It¡¯s just a normal ass 458 now. All good.¡±

Zimmerman, who unveiled the car in March this year, used it in his ¡®Coffee Run¡¯ series on YouTube, which included an in-car coffee date with Toronto Mayor Rob Ford. The Canadian DJ also put the car to good use when he competed, alongside driving partner Mythbuster¡¯s Tory Belleci, in the Gumball 3000 rally in June. The pair traveled 3000 miles from Miami to Ibiza in the mobile pop culture homage; taking home the ¡®Spirit Of The Gumball¡¯ trophy.

Despite the minor legal hiccup, Zimmerman¡¯s 458 is still set to go on sale relatively soon, in replacement of his new car, and Ferrari¡¯s age-old rival, a McLaren 650S Spider, which he intends to wrap in Ventablack ¨C the world¡¯s darkest material.

The EDM superstar originally advertised his kitty-wrapped ¡®Purrari¡¯ for $380,000 (around $AUD373,324) on Cragslist that, according to Deadmau5 came with an iPod stocked with Nyan Cat songs and 6,500 miles under its belt. However, with the car now in its original plain Jane condition, prospective buyers will have to mourn the car that would have been¡ R.I.P Purrari.
