The Soundwave 2015 First Wave is slowly but surely coming together. On Monday, Japanese metalcore act Coldrain were confirmed to join the bill, and now, US pop-punkers Patent Pending and LA-based metal act Butcher Babies have been added to the ever-expanding lineup.

Patent Pending were one of the few artists promoter AJ Maddah handpicked to play 2014 Vans Warped Tour Australia. However, as this year¡¯s Aussie leg of the festival was scratched, Maddah took the opportunity to invite the NY six-piece Down Under for his flagship event.

Following the announcement, the lads in Patent Pending took to Facebook to voice their excitement. ¡°AUSTRALIA, see you in February! So excited to announce we are going to be playing Soundwave Festival An absolute honor to be the 2nd band announced! #SW15 #SummerInTheWinter¡± wrote the band.

Forming in 2001, Patent Pending self-released six records before putting out a full-length studio effort five years later, titled, Save Each Other, the Whales Are Doing Fine. With uplifting, melodic choruses and tongue-in-cheek lyrics, comparisons have been made to pop-punk pioneers Blink-182 and The Beastie Boys.

¡°With their high energy assault and abundance of jokes, the entire crowd were swept into their hands, lapping up every moment. From the cover of Backstreet Boys hit ¡®I Want It That Way¡¯ to the wall of hugs and high fives or even their own number ¡®Douchebag¡¯, the band played a blinder. One of the best opening sets we¡¯ve seen in a while ¨C brilliant¡± wrote Birmingham Live of Patent Pending¡¯s live set.

With a sound that the band describes as ¡°heavy fucking metal co-fronted by two girls that don¡¯t give a shit¡± Butcher Babies have been on Maddah¡¯s radar since 2013, when they unleashed their brutal debut album, Goliath, unto the world.

Hailing from Los Angeles, and fronted by two beautiful yet terrifying women, Carla Harvey and Heidi Shepherd, the powerhouse pair are back by guitarist Henry Flury (Amen), bass player Jason Klein (Azdachao), and drummer Chris Warner (Scars of Tomorrow).

Switching between clean vocals and metal growls, the fierce front-women have been described by the Examiner as ¡°a female version of Pantera or Slipknot.¡± Not only this, but the band has received much kudos for their musicianship ¨C their thunderous drums and pummeling riffs always deliver a punch.
