Western Sydney teen rockers 5 Seconds Of Summer topped the US charts last week, with some of the year¡¯s biggest numbers.

Released June 27 this year, via Capitol Records, the pop quartet¡¯s self-titled debut album sold a massive 259,000 copies in its first weeks, giving 5SOS the highest selling debut by an Aussie artist in the US.

The 5SOS lads are the first to achieve this feat since AC/DC, whose album Black Ice spent two weeks on top of the American charts in 2008.

Thanks to smash-hit singles ¡®She Looks So Perfect¡¯, ¡®Don¡¯t Stop¡¯ and ¡®Amnesia¡¯, the album has already sold 1.5 million copies worldwide this month, debuting at No.1 in Australia, New Zealand, Italy and Ireland, as well as No.2 in the UK and Sweden.

According to Nielson SoundScan data, only British rock outfit Coldplay¡¯s Ghost Stories (383,000) and Eric Church¡¯s The Outsiders (288,000) debuted with higher first-week scores.

Following the news, 5SOS drummer, and ¡°man of 1000 drumming faces¡± Ashton Irwin took to Twitter to voice his excitement.

He wrote: ¡°To everyone that¡¯s been apart of the journey so far we love you so much, you guys made the album number #1 in the US, we are speechless¡¡±

Only yesterday, the adorable pop rockers unveiled the music video for their third single, ¡®Amnesia¡¯. In the video the band ditch their superhero costumes for what seems to be the sentimental memory of a perfect summer day. It¡¯s all swimming pools, shopping carts, road trips and water gun fights for the spiky-haired foursome, as they sing the heart-wrenching ballad of a relationship gone sour.
¡®Amnesia¡¯ was co-written by Good Charlotte¡¯s Benji and Joel Madden, and is set for release on September 5 this year.

Meanwhile, 5 Seconds Of Summer will return to their homeland in June 2015 for their Rock Out With Your Socks Out Tour, which will see the band play arenas around Australia.
