It¡¯s been quite the whirlwind year for New Zealand pop songstress Lorde, who has played almost 50 shows in 40 cities across 14 countries this year, not to mention taking home two golden gramophones at this year¡¯s Grammy Awards.

Despite her chaotic schedule, which saw the singer-songwriter postpone her Australian tour in April this year due to ill health, Lorde has confirmed that she is working on her sophomore album.

According to the ¡®Royals¡¯ singer, the new album is ¡°totally different¡± to her previous material as it encapsulates her new experiences and the unfamiliar music world in which she has immersed herself. ¡°I wrote the last album about that world which was the suburb where I grew up and populated by my friends and people who were really familiar to me. Now I¡¯m in a different place every day and I¡¯m with new people every day and it¡¯s a different vibe.¡±

The wild-haired singer burst into global consciousness with her 2013 debut Pure Heroine, and at the tender age of 17, she is yet to spread musical wings.

¡°I think I¡¯ve learned so much as a songwriter, there¡¯s going to be so much of an improvement because of that¡± Lorde told the BBC. ¡°I¡¯m working on stuff quite tentatively, it¡¯s definitely still at the beginning and yeah, it¡¯s totally different.¡±

Currently working in the studio, Lorde took to Twitter to inform fans that she was having to battle studio ghosts to get a clean recording.

¡°Ghosts in the studio don¡¯t want us to record tonight, they leaving their ghost hum on everything. Buzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz,¡± she tweeted.

Fingers crossed the studio ghosts refrain from humming long enough for Lorde to record another infectious chart-topper. Lorde recently posted that although she was asked to perform the iconic Glastonbury Festival, she had to pull out in the name of family time (aww).
