Daniel Radcliffe has shouted ¡®expelliarmus¡® at rumours that J.K. Rowling¡¯s Harry Potter where-are-they-now update will make it onto the big screen.

¡°My inclination is to say ¡®no¡¯ because I don¡¯t think it¡¯s even a hypothetical at the moment¡± Radcliffe told reporters during the Television Critics Association summer press tour.

He added: ¡°What she¡¯s written ¨C and I haven¡¯t read yet but I will ¨C I understand it¡¯s a very short piece. And he¡¯s 12 years older than I am now.¡±

Rowling satisfied fan¡¯s Harry Potter cravings, for the first time in seven years, writing a 1,500 word story on the Pottermore website. In the new story, written in the voice of Daily Prophet gossip-columnist Rita Skeeter, a now 34-year-old Potter appears at the 2014 Quidditch World Cup with a mysterious cut on his cheek and ¡°threads of silver¡± in his famously black hair.

The Boy Who Lived is joined by his wife, Ron Weasley¡¯s sister, Ginny Potter, who is now a journalist and the chief Quidditch Cup correspondent for the Daily Prophet. Ron¡¯s hair is ¡°slightly thinning¡± and the mouthy Hermione Granger is deputy head of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement. All three members of Dumbledore¡¯s Army worked together at the Ministry of Magic, however, Ron left his job to ¡°co-manage the highly successful wizarding joke emporium Weasleys¡¯ Wizard Wheezes.¡±

The update belongs to series of Quidditch World Cup pieces that Rowling has posted on Pottermore to coincide with the World Cup in Brazil. As the story marks the first time Rowling has written about the HP characters as adults, its no wonder Potterholics crashed the website on Tuesday morning.

Since wrapping up the Harry Potter installments, Daniel Radcliffe has gone on to pursue an array of roles on the silver screen. From portraying one of America¡¯s most distinguished and openly gay poets, Allen Ginsberg, in Kill Your Darlings to his role as the widowed lawyer, Arthur Kipps, in supernatural thriller The Woman In Black, Radcliffe is breaking away from the ominous cloud that is the child actor stereotype and cementing himself as an acting force to be reckoned with.

So keep your eyes peeled for the humble British actor, he will be hitting the silver screen, alongside the wild-haired Juno Temple, later this year in the fantasy thriller, Horns.
