Hip-hop heavyweight Jay Z has launched his own brand of soda. As if his wallet wasn¡¯t fat enough already, the rapper announced that the beverage will be dubbed 40/40 after his chain of clubs.

According to Consequence of Sound, the drink boasts an ¡°Arnold-Palmer-esque¡± flavour, which is a mixture of iced tea and pink lemonade, named after American golfer, Arnold Palmer.

The brainchild of former Def Jam Chief Kevin Liles, the soda was created as a promotion project with ¡°sports-loving males¡± in mind, which contains technology that allows consumers to access exclusive Jay Z content using their smart phones.

¡°We have great tasting beverage,¡± said Liles in a statement. ¡°But the second part of it is providing a new network for the brands or icons to communicate with their fans. I call it disrupting the consumer packaged goods industry by having your products actually talk to you.¡±

Jay Z recently recorded a remix of X Ambassadors¡¯ and Jamie N Commons¡¯ track ¡®Jungle¡¯. The remix features on a Beats By Dre advertising campaign for the World Cup, which reveals the ¡®game before the game¡¯, the unseen game played in the locker room and how the best prepare for greatness. The track has Jay Z rapping about ¡°sipping champagne from the world cup¡±, while shedding light on recent controversies in Brazil: ¡°Especially when your own country treats you like an infidel.¡±

After months of mounting speculation, Jay Z and pop diva wife Beyonce announced that they will be hitting the road together for their On The Run Tour, which will see the power couple play 16 dates across the US and Canada.

The tour comes following the success of their latest collaboration, ¡®Drunk In Love¡¯, which peaked at no.12 on the US Billboard Hot 100 earlier this year. The single marks the first collaboration between the pair since 2003¡¯s ¡®Crazy In Love¡¯.
