Eminem will be taking over New York¡¯s Hammerstein Ballroom this July when he hosts what is set to be the biggest battle rap competition in hip-hip history. Brought to you by Shady Films and Watchloud.com, Total Slaughter will be like 8 Mile meets the WWE.

The gloves are off, and Slim Shady is confident that the one-on-one battling and verbal sparring will put the competition on a level with boxing and MMA.

Total Slaughter comes to television screens July 12, and premieres with a throwback to 2003 ¨C dismasters Murda Mook and Loaded Lux will go head-to-head in what will be their long awaited rematch.

The other battle that will feature in the July event, and is certain to create some buzz, is the competition between Slaughterhouse¡¯s Joe Budden and self-proclaimed ¡°best battle rapper ever¡± Hollow Da Don.

The competition will give MCs the opportunity to brush up on their freestyle skills, as well as bringing the rap battle culture into the mainstream. ¡°Rap comes from battling. Theres a certain cloth most MC¡¯s are cut from¡±, Joe Budden told Rolling Stone. ¡°Why do NBA players still play at [famed street basketball court] Rucker Park? When you are competitive you want to play against all players. You never lose the desire to compete against whoever thinks they¡¯re the best.

The question on everyone¡¯s lips is whether Eminem will make an appearance back in the ring. The answer is no. Slaughterhouse¡¯s Royce Da 5¡¯9 confirmed the news, telling Rolling Stone that the 8 Mile rapper would be an easy target because everyone knows everything about him. He also added that the MC isn¡¯t battle-ready just yet. ¡°But let me tell you something,¡± said Royce. ¡°When he was doing it, he was a f¨Ckin¡¯ killer.¡±
