Even before X-Men: Days of Future Past has made its premiere, talk is already on about who will be starring in upcoming X-Men films. And one name is sure to get people buzzing. Channing Tatum, every girl¡¯s heartthrob, is set to the play the card-slinging, kinetic energy-manipulating mutant Gambit in upcoming films.

Producer Lauren Shuler Donner said that Tatum will take the role off Taylor Kitsch, who played it in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, and is the right choice for the character.

¡°Yes, it¡¯s Channing. It is Channing. Yes, yes,¡± said Donner to Total Film. ¡°He¡¯s a rogue. Channing, he¡¯s a rascal, just like [Gambit¡¯s alter ego] Remy LeBeau,¡± she added. ¡°And he can handle the action, well all know that, and he¡¯s got a real good heart because I know him personally. ¡ He¡¯ll be great for Gambit. And he¡¯s a southerner¡. he understands that world, and you know Gambit loves New Orleans.¡±

Tatum himself has admitted he would love to play Gambit saying: ¡°Gambit is the only X-Man I¡¯ve ever loved. I mean, I¡¯ve loved them all, they¡¯re all great, but I guess just being from down South; my dad¡¯s from Louisiana, I¡¯m from Mississippi, Alabama, Florida. I don¡¯t know, I just related to him¡ I would die to play him.¡±

No confirmation has been made if Tatum will star in a Gambit standalone film, but there is a rumour that he might take part in the upcoming X-Men: Apocalypse film, the sequel to the X-Men: Days of Future Past.
