American pop rock act Maroon 5 has confirmed a collaboration with ¡®Hollaback Girl¡¯ Gwen Stefani on their forthcoming album, V. The now-platinum blonde front-man, Adam Levine, confirmed on Monday the rumour that pop singer, and former No Doubt front-woman, Gwen Stefani would appear on the new album.

¡°I wanted it to be a surprise, but she is,¡± Levine told Ryan Seacrest.

The news came following the release of Maroon 5¡¯s latest single ¡®Maps¡¯, which dropped earlier this week. The track, a poppy yet romantic call to a lost love, has Levine playing the part of love slave, singing: ¡°We drew a map to a better place/But on that road I took a fall/ Oh baby why did you run away?¡± With a cocktail of breezy guitars, catchy disco beats and Levine¡¯s angelic vocals, the track will undoubtedly flood the airwaves.

Despite four albums, three Grammy Awards, and a legion of fans under their belt, Adam Levine is excited about unleashing the band¡¯s ¡°song baby¡± unto the world.

¡°Every time we release a single, it always feel like the first time¡± he said. ¡°I always get those butterflies. I¡¯m so excited. I feel like I¡¯m releasing a baby into the world¡ a song baby.¡±

V is the fifth album to the band¡¯s name, and is set to drop this September. According to Levine, the album is an amalgamation of everything the band has ever done musically. ¡°It¡¯s my favourite that we¡¯ve ever done,¡± Levine said on air With Ryan Seacrest. ¡°It¡¯s what we used to sound like, it¡¯s what we sound like now, it¡¯s what we want to sound like tomorrow¡ It¡¯s a better listen than ever.¡±

However, it¡¯s not just new music on the horizon for the Maroon 5 singer. Levine is making his debut on the big screen in Begin Again, starring alongside Kierra Knightley and Mark Ruffalo, in which he plays a singer who dumps his talented girlfriend (Knightley) after making it big. She then embarks on her own journey to musical stardom.

Begin Again is due out in cinemas August 7 this year, so get your headphones and popcorn ready, there are big things around the corner that¡¯ll have fans movin¡¯ like Jagger.
