Superman + Batman Film Is Possible Says Man Of Steel Star

superman and batman

Well, naturally after the grouping of heroes in The Avengers, it means that rival superheroes have to come together to save the planet.

And Man Of Steel actor Henry Cavill believes that might be the case, saying that a movie with both Superman and Batman would be “really interesting”.

Cavill, who will play Superman in Zack Snyder’s reboot of the franchise said in an interview with SFX that a collaboration of the two biggest superheroes on the movie screen would be a “great story”.

“I think it would be really interesting with the age-old Batman/Superman conflict,” Cavill said.

“Because they are two different sides of the same coin and their methods are entirely different. And I think it would actually make for an interesting story as to why, first of all, they were going head to head and how. I think that would make a great story.”

Asked about if anything is currently in the works, Cavill quickly said that he doesn’t know, but “ideas were being thrown around at Warner Bros Studios.”

The likelihood of a joint venture doesn’t seem out of the question, considering that the Man of Steel is being by Christopher Nolan, the man behind the now infamous and many believe, best superhero trilogy; The Dark Knight.

Nolan also had a hand with the script, alongside David S Goyer, who wrote the Blade films, as well as Batman Begins. Snyder will be directing the film, with Nolan believing the director has the skills following previous superhero movie, Watchman and the cult-classic, 300.

Goyer though was quick to say that the Man of Steel was very much its own movie. “Relatable and realistic doesn’t necessarily mean dark,” he explained.

“I think it would be inappropriate for us to approach a Superman film as if we were doing The Dark Knight. The Batman films are a lot more nihilistic; Superman has always been a story about hope.”

The Man Of Steel opens in cinemas on June 14. Amy Adams as Lois Lane and Russell Crowe as his biological father Jor-El, Kevin Costner and Diane Lane appear as his adoptive parents, Jonathan and Martha Ken will also star in the film.
