Sequel to Inbetweeners on its way Down Under

After touring around the Greek Islands, the gang from The Inbetweeners are set to take their shenanigans to Australia for a sequel.

It comes after the show’s creators Damon Beesley and Iain Morris revealed that there were plans for a sequel. Now The Sun has announced that they have drafted a script and that the show’s four main characters are signed up to reprise their roles.

This time around the boys – played by Simon Bird, James Buckley, Blake Harrison and Joe Thomas – are set to be taking a backpacking tour around Australia, where they’ll surely find themselves in a load of mischief and trouble.

A source close to the creators said that: “The writers… have been knocking ideas around for a while and came up with something they thought would be good enough to maintain the high standards they have set,”

“They never thought all the lads would be up for coming back so soon as they have become big stars in their own right. But when James [Buckley] said he was game the other week, everything seemed to click into place.”

The first film, released in 2011 was a success, taking in over $45 million at the box office. It follows the on from the show’s conclusion when the boys graduated from high school.

The show was huge success in the UK and ran for three seasons between 2008 to 2010. The show followed the four boys, who were “inbetweeners” – not popular to be considered “popular” and not nerdy enough to be “nerds” – and their schemes to party hard and get with the girls.

And just like all successful shows, the US tried to an Americanised version of the show, which only lasted one season.

The sequel is set to arrive in the winter of 2014 for Australian fans.
