There¡¯s something strange in the neighborhood¡­ and yes that something strange is that Ghostbusters 3 could be on its way to cinemas.

The third film of the now so-called trilogy is still in the works of being made according to star from the original films, Dan Aykroyd.

Aykroyd confirmed to ABC News that the film is still a look away from being shot, but the progress with the script though is looking promising.

I feel re-encouraged, reinvigorated by the pages that I have seen. I know that we¡¯re expecting half of the screenplay to be completed very soon,¡± he said.

¡°It should be into production by the fall and be shooting by the new year. I won¡¯t say anything, it¡¯s very exciting.¡±

Aykroyd went on to say that the film will continue its root of the original movie, with ¡°The Higgs boson and the particle theories, gluons and mesons¡± being part of the plot which could involve another dimension being involved.

The film has been stuck in development hell, with Aykroyd and co-start and writer Harold Ramis struggling to kick-start the script. So much so that star Bill Murray declined to come back as the loudmouth Dr. Peter Venkman because the plot ¡°was stupid¡±.

Since then, Ramis and Aykroyd has worked hard at the script and have even signed up Men In Black 3 writer Etan Cohen to help.
