Upcoming movie stars Channing Tatum and Joseph Gordon-Levitt are set to be in the running for a big screen remake of the popular musical Guys and Dolls.

Both actors are set to be interested in working in an adaptation of the classic musical created by Frank Loesser. For years, there has been no word of a remake, until Loesser¡¯s widow finally signed up to the remake.

However, no names or deals will be confirmed until the film announces its screenwriter and director.

The musical tells the story of gangster in 1920s New York and was originally based on a series of short stories by Damon Runyon. Loesser came around and added lyrics and music to the story. The musical has since been a monstrous hit and in its debut year in 1950 won five Tony Awards.

The film was originally made in 1955 and starred movie icons, Marlon Brando and Frank Sinatra; the reported roles for Tatum and Gordon-Levitt. No premiere date has been set.
