Star Wars VII Gets Official Title

The new Star Wars films have been marred with controversy since it’s announcement – and have been the subject of many rumours ever since – but finally, an official announcement has put the rumours to rest. In an uncharacteristic move, the title of the film was revealed in a tweet from the official movie Twitter account, and the news that principal filming has been wrapped. What’s the title? Star Wars VII: The Force Awakens.

Little is known about the plot of the film, but what is known is that the JJ Abrams-directed film features a new cast made up of Adam Driver, Andy Serkis, Lupita Nyong’o and Oscar Isaac, with cameos from original cast members Harrison Ford (Han Solo), Carrie Fisher (Princess Leia) and Mark Hammill (Luke Skywalker).

Move over Jeremy Renner; Matt Damon is returning to the Bourne Identity franchise, with Damon confirming the long-rumoured comeback after it was let slip by his long time friend Ben Affleck.

In a recent interview with E! Movie industry site Deadline is reporting that Sony has hired writer Rodney Rothman, who penned 22 Jump Street and is also a head writer for the Late Show with David Letterman, to get to work on a sequel. Directors Phil Lord and Christopher Miller are reportedly producing the film at the very least, with the directors’ chairs theirs for the taking should they want them. Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum involvement is yet to be confirmed, but could we really revisit Jump Street without these two?
