Exciting times ahead for the mammoth Australian urban festival “Supafest” as they formally announced that Chris Brown, Missy Elliot, Naughty by Nature and Big Sean will be joining the already huge line up this year.

Late last year, Supafest had already confirmed that P.Diddy, Kelly Rowland, Lupe Fiasco, Rick Ross, Ice Cube and Trey Songz will be performing!

Supafest Director’s John Denison and Dwayne Cross went on to say, “We are very proud with our final artist’s announcement, which features undoubtedly one of the greatest performers of his time in Chris Brown along with one of the biggest female hip-hop superstars, Missy Elliot.”

Tickets to Lady Gaga’s upcoming Australian tour hasn’t even gone on sale yet but already Live Nation, the touring company behind the Born This Way Ball has announced three additional shows in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane.

The Born This Way Ball will no doubt see “Mother Monster” playing all the singles from her recent album “Born This Way”, along with tracks from her previous albums “The Fame” and “The Fame Monster”

“The Haus of Gaga and I have worked for months conceiving a spectacular stage,” she said. “The Born This Way Ball is an Electro-Metal Pop-Opera, the tale of the Beginning, the genesis of the Kingdom of Fame. How we were birthed and how we will die celebrating.”

Tickets for all dates (including the new shows) are on sale this Friday, February 17 at 9am sharp.

If you have been hiding under a rock for the past 18 months, Sonny John Moore, A.K.A Skrillex is an American electronic music producer and former singer – song writer. Raised in Northeast Los Angeles, California, Moore joined the American post–hardcore band From First to Last as the lead singer in 2004, and recorded two studio albums with the band (Dear Diary, My Teen Angst Has a Bodycount (2004) and Heroine (2006)) before leaving to pursue a solo career in 2007. He began his first tour as a solo artist in late 2007. After recruiting a new band lineup, Moore joined the Alternative Press Tour to support bands such as All Time Low and The Rocket Summer, and appeared on the cover of Alternative Press annual 100 Bands You Need to Know issue.

After releasing the Gypsyhook EP in 2009, Moore was scheduled to record his debut studio album, Bells, with producer Noah Shain. However, he ceased production of the album and began performing under the name Skrillex. After releasing the My Name is Skrillex EP for free download on his official MySpace page, he released the Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites EP in late–2010 and More Monsters and Sprites EP in mid–2011. Both have since become a massive commercial success.

On November 30, 2011, he was nominated for a total of five Grammy Awards at the 54th Grammy Awards, including Best New Artist.On December 5, 2011, the BBC announced that he had been nominated for their Sound of 2012 poll. Multi-platinum singer and songwriter Jason Derulo suffered an injury to his neck on Tuesday, January 3rd, and has been forced to cancel all touring and promotional activities., including his April Australian tour dates.

The 22-year-old Miami native injured himself while training for his upcoming World Tour in support of his current album Future History, which was scheduled to commence in Glasgow on February 23rd.

While executing an acrobatic move, Derulo landed directly on his head, and suffered an acute fracture to his vertebra. After being rushed to Memorial West Hospital in Miami’s Pembroke Pines, FL, he was told by doctors that the accident could have left him paralyzed. Derulo has been released from the hospital but must wear a neck brace for the next few months.

“To all my fans who planned to come to the Future History World tour, the pain of letting you down cuts me way deeper than this injury I’ve sustained. My fans mean everything to me, so I’m praying for a speedy recovery in order to perform for you in the near future.”

Flea, the bassist and co-founding member of the Red Hot Chili Peppers has confirmed that they will definitely be touring Australia in 2012 on the back of their new album “Im With You“.

The band is currently performing shows around the world and recently Triple M (Australian radio station) had the opportunity to catch up with him at the MTV Europe Video Awards. Flea went on to say… “We are coming, I looked at my tour schedule and it’s there next year. I don’t know the dates, I’m sorry, but we are coming. Without doubt, we will come … and rock … like untethered beasts”

Naturally punters will be thrilled to hear this news and without a doubt this will be one of the biggest tours in 2012! Let the count down begin…

Australian Hardcore is officially out of the bag. Once the nation’s best kept secret, the mainstream has been forced to take notice of the massive underground scene that has been taken to new heights both locally and internationally with the success of bands like Parkway Drive, The Amity Affliction and Dream On Dreamer. And as the music industry struggles to make sense of exactly where it all came from (and how they can get involved), hundreds of young bands are already making headway into becoming the next success to be born out of the scene.

Northlane are one of (if not the best) new bands out there. Combining a ferocious live show, an unwavering message and a passion-before-fashion approach to their aesthetic, Northlane has everything that makes heavy music powerful – the raw energy of hardcore, the technical proficiency of metal and the attention to detail in their songwriting. While the metal / hardcore crossover has been present in the scene since the mid eighties, in 2011 it’s rare to find such a refreshing take on the mix.

Forming in 2008, the young Sydney five piece has spent the last five years carving out an enthusiastic fanbase all across Australia. Without doing any big supports, they’ve managed to become a headline act in regional and city centres via word of mouth and live shows that look and sound fit for arenas.

Earlier in 2011, Northlane settled to record their debut album, “Discoveries“. Self-Produced and sent to the US to be mixed by Will Putney, the album immediately caught the attention of Australian powerhouse music company UNFD, who had already had bountiful success with the likes of The Amity Affliction, The Getaway Plan, Dream On Dreamer and I Killed The Prom Queen. A deal was subsequently signed, and a new relationship formed.

With the talent to match their enthusiasm, and the outlook of a band hell bent on carving out their niche, the new relationship and album should prove to make Northlane yet another Australian success to shock the mainstream.

Since his name-making production on the Black Eyed Peas‘ “I Gotta Feeling,” French house-music titan David Guetta has become a go-to guy for pop stars looking to navigate the increasingly techno-fied Top 40. Artists from 50 Cent to Rihanna have rung his studio bell. But Guetta always seemed hungry to be more than just a name on other people’s records: In the video for his current hit “Where Them Girls At,” he DJs on an L.A. rooftop, turning pedestrians into party people – it’s like an E’ed-up version of U2‘s “Where the Streets Have No Name.”

If Guetta’s fifth album doesn’t convince you that he’s the Bono of the four-on-the-floor beat, it does show how good he is at making Eurohouse’s thumping trounce and jet-engine synth whoosh feel like natural elements in the hip-hop, R&B and even rock continuum. The best tracks here work a sure-fire formula: Rapper lubricates the throbbing verse, R&B star pretties up the sweeping ballad-big chorus. On “Little Bad Girl,” Ludacris swaggers while Taio Cruz croons about a sexy club rat. Elsewhere, Usher gets lonely over Coldplay-style guitar (“Without U”), and Nicki Minaj demolishes the club (“All the girls in the back of me/This ain’t football, why the fuck they wanna tackle me,” she raps on “Where Them Girls At”). The epic moment is “Nothing Really Matters,” featuring Will.i.am; it’s the album’s gushiest melody, turning an ode to partying your problems away into a call to escapist togetherness. Guetta and Will.i.am jell so well because they share a vision: dance floor cheese as the glue of humanity.

The early rumours are that David Guetta will be headlining the Creamfields festival in Australia in April 2012.
