No, we didn’t teleport back to 2009, Kanye West is still fighting for Beyoncé (unasked, if facial expressions are anything to go by), taking to the stage after Beck won Album of The Year at the 2015 Grammy Awards, but one thing was different from the controversial first time Yeezy stormed the stage… he and arch rival Taylor Swift are cool with each other, and apparently recording music together.

In a post show interview, ‘Ye confirmed that he and Tay are “going into the studio together”, confiding to Ryan Seacrest his plans for the as yet titled record.

Indie-pop darling, Lana Del Rey has let slip that she’s already recording new music for her next album, teasing details and announcing track names in a recent interview with the LA Times.

While discussing the music she has contributed to the new Tim Burton film, Big Eyes, she was asked whether writing for film is different than recording for herself and her answer gave the first glimpse into her upcoming third record.

The 1975 Will Release A Single In 2015

In between wrapping up a major Australian tour this month, (and dodging Taylor Swift relationship rumours in the tabloids) Matt Healy and his group, The 1975, are ready to get back into the studio, promising fans will get new music from them this year.

In an interview with Music Feeds, frontman Matt said that the band have locked in studio time to record their sophomore record, with hopes that the first single will be released in late 2015, with the the forthcoming album following shortly after.

Spotify has named Michael Jackson’s classic hit ‘Thriller’ as the number one streamed song for Halloween enthusiasts this year.

Research from the company showed that over 60,000 users chose to feature the track in Halloween-themed playlists this year, with Bobby Picket’s 1962 hit “Monster Mash” coming in at a close second.

The Voice (Australia) contestant Anja Nissen has had a roller-coaster of a year; after taking the crown and releasing her debut album to mixed reviews (and less than 2000 sales in its first week), she’s back with a new sound and a reinvented image.

Her debut single ‘I’m So Excited’ features Will I Am and newcomer Cody Wise. The newly released video clip features a raunchier version of the young songstress, with midriff baring outfits, a glamorous cover-girl photo shoot setting and a club beat to match, the star is almost unrecognizable.

Jay Z To Buy Spotify Competitor Aspiro

Like he said in ‘Diamonds From Sierra Leone’, he’s “not a businessman, he’s a business, man”. Jay-Z is set to expand his empire with an offer to buy Swedish music streaming company Aspiro for an estimated $US56 million.

If the bid is successful, Jay will add in Aspiro with the Roc Nation record label and sports management company, 40/40 Club chain, and Rocafella fragrances as his extracurricular business activities.

RJ Mitte Goes From Breaking Bad To Breaking Beats

Walt Jr. is swapping crystal meth for DJ decks, with the actor behind the Breaking Bad character, RJ Mitte, set to play an event in New York… aptly named Breaking Beats.

While a little left of field, his DJ spot on the Breaking Bad themed event line up isn’t unprecedented, with some of the other cast dabbling in music. Last year, his cast mate Aaron Paul (aka Jesse Pinkman) recorded a tongue in cheek house track based around his character’s signature catch phrase.

Paramore’s Hayley Williams Is Engaged!

In a pop-punk match made in heaven, Paramore front woman Hayley Williams rang in her 2015 with an engagement ring, confirming she is set to marry longtime partner, New Found Glory’s Chad Gilbert.

Breaking the news in quirky fashion, Hayley tweeted out a photoshopped pic of herself and Chad as newlyweds adding “Hey, guess what?” New Years Day, prompting fans and some of their famous friends to send their congratulations.

Bad news for streaming-savvy Swifties; Taylor, when she wasn’t selling 1.2+ million copies of her latest album, she quietly pulled all of her back-catalogue from Spotify.

The move came following the release of 1989 – her first step into the pop world – with the cat-loving popstar and her record label reportedly not happy with the music streaming sites payment for artists – estimated $0.007 per song play. They are the latest high profile examples of a large section of the industry that feel that streaming services are not yet in a position to fill the hole created by downloads.

Eminem Reveals Cover Artwork For ‘Shady XV’

In true Eminem fashion, the rapper-songwriter has uploaded a 3-second Instagram video revealing the edgy artwork for his upcoming album Shady XV.

In the short but silent clip, Eminem flips a card with a ‘Friday the 13th’ horror- story-esque motif which will work as the cover art for his much-anticipated ‘best of’ record’. The album will be a two-disc set and will celebrate the 15th anniversary of Eminem’s record label, Shady Records.
