Pharrell Williams Adds Children’s Book Author To His Resume

Pharrell Williams is a jack of all trades; a super producer, singer-songwriter, designer, giant hat enthusiast, and now, he can add author of children’s books to his already-long resume, signing a four book deal with Penguin Publishing, with his first book to be inspired by his hit song ‘Happy’.

“I’m humbled by the global success of Happy, but especially in awe of the song’s young fans… My collaboration with Penguin allows me to continue a dialogue with these children in a fresh, new way. We’re both committed to feeding the curiosity of young minds with imagination,” he said in a statement.

Andrew Swift Announces New Single And Tour

Melbourne artist Andrew Swift has just announced the release of his new single, Sound The Alarm as well as a string of shows across Melbourne and Adelaide throughout February and March.

Speaking about the ballad, Swift says that “My songs have always been of a personal storytelling nature, but Sound The Alarm is about as honest and personal as it’s been so far… It was written during the hardest break up I’ve had to go through, but rather than write a heartbroken, ‘woe is me’ type of break up song, what came out was a reflection of the night that that we met.”

Jay Z To Buy Spotify Competitor Aspiro

Like he said in ‘Diamonds From Sierra Leone’, he’s “not a businessman, he’s a business, man”. Jay-Z is set to expand his empire with an offer to buy Swedish music streaming company Aspiro for an estimated $US56 million.

If the bid is successful, Jay will add in Aspiro with the Roc Nation record label and sports management company, 40/40 Club chain, and Rocafella fragrances as his extracurricular business activities.

First Look At Daredevil: The TV Series

Superheroes are having a TV Renaissance, with Matt Murdock (aka Daredevil) joining the likes of The Flash, Green Arrow, and the Agents of SHIELD in getting his story brought to TV…and we’ve got your first look! Netflix have just released the first trailer for the ‘Daredevil‘ series and even in the short clip, it’s clear that it’s far superior to the forgettable (read: horrible) Ben Affleck-led films.

Starring British actor Charlie Cox, the 13 episode series will follow Matt, who was blinded as a boy but gifted with extraordinarily heightened senses, and his vigilante alter ego, Daredevil. Fighting injustice by day a tough-talking lawyer, before he takes on the city’s crime world by night as a masked vigilante.

New Found Glory, Bayside, The Wonder Years – Soundwave Sideshows

Three of pop-punks best are joining forces, with New Found Glory, Bayside, and The Wonder Years playing two joint sideshows in addition to their individual Soundwave sets. The trio will play a show in both Melbourne and Sydney later this month, taking their mini festival to the Hi-Fi in Victoria’s capital on the 24th, and Sydney’s Factory Theatre on the 27th.

Music’s resident cool girl, Charli XCX has just announced she’ll be performing three sideshows during her spot on the Groovin The Moo tour… and to make it even sweeter, she’s bringing along Aus music’s latest It Girl, Tkay Maidza.

Her first trip to Australia since playing the 2012 Parklife Festival, Charli will bring her specialty brand of bratty pop (and the Australian live debut of her latest record, Sucker) to crowds across Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane.

Former ‘East Enders’ Actor Ben Hardy Confirmed To Play Angel In ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’

After recent speculation, it has been confirmed that British actor Ben Hardy will play the role of Angel in the new X-Men film.

Rumours started when director Bryan Singer posted production art of the character Angel on Instagram. Hardy had been repeatedly linked to the superhero sequel and Singer finally responded on Thursday in an interview with Empire Magazine.

No, we didn’t teleport back to 2009, Kanye West is still fighting for Beyoncé (unasked, if facial expressions are anything to go by), taking to the stage after Beck won Album of The Year at the 2015 Grammy Awards, but one thing was different from the controversial first time Yeezy stormed the stage… he and arch rival Taylor Swift are cool with each other, and apparently recording music together.
