Move over Jeremy Renner; Matt Damon is returning to the Bourne Identity franchise, with Damon confirming the long-rumoured comeback after it was let slip by his long time friend Ben Affleck.

In a recent interview with E! News, Ben let it slip that the other half of Hollywood¡¯s best bromance is ¡°¡going to be doing a Bourne movie next fall when I¡¯ve just completely lost any semblance of physical fitness¡±, promoting the official announcement, which also included the news that original director Paul Greengrass will also be returning.

¡°It¡¯ll be in 2016 when the movie will actually come out. [director] Paul Greengrass is going to do another one and that¡¯s all I ever said. I just needed him to say yes¡±, said Matt.

Based on the spy novels of Robert Ludlum, the Bourne franchise follows secret agent Jason Bourne as he works to regain his memory lost in a top secret government program and exact revenge on those who left him for dead. The to-be-titled film will be Damon¡¯s first Bourne film since 2007, and the first instalment in the series since the spin-off starring Jeremy Renner as black ops agent Aaron Cross, released in 2012.
