British singer-songwriter, Ed Sheeran has announced that he will be strapping on his guitar for a five-date arena tour of Australia in 2015.
Armed only with his acoustic guitar, loop pedal and soulful voice, Sheeran will be the first musician in two decades to embark on a headline arena tour, completely solo.
The 23-year-old will transform what should be an intimate set into a spectacular arena performance, which is accessible to all walks of life. He is ensuring that all fans are given equal opportunity to purchase the best seats in the house by selling all tickets at $99 (plus booking fee).
“Ed wanted to ensure that his shows were accessible to all of his fans. It’s incredibly rare these days to have all tickets at one price in arena venues but Ed wanted to make it happen,” said Head of Frontier Touring, Michael Gudinski.
‘The A Team’ singer was last in Australia earlier this year, playing six intimate shows off the back of the release of his sophomore album, x (pronounced ‘Multiply’). Considered the work of a musician who was raised on a diet of hip hop, folk, rock, and R&B, x debuted at number one in twelve countries, including Australia and New Zealand. The album, an amalgamation of miscellaneous tracks from over the last three years, features collaborations with Pharrell Williams, Snow Patrol’s Johnny McDaid and Foy Vance.
Fans can expect almost two hours of beautiful harmonies, guitar strums and foot stomps and Ed Sheeran-esque raps, as he performs tracks from + and x. Tickets are available to the general public from 10am (AEST) on Thursday October 2.
