Sydney rock outfit Bluejuice are officially hanging up their sequined leotards for good at the end of 2014. The quirky band has decided to end their 13-year reign together, but not before announcing a new single, greatest hits compilation and a national Retrospectable tour at the end of this year.

The band, fronted by cheeky songwriters Jake Stone and Stavros Yiannoukas, issued a statement earlier this week, which read: ¡°After 13 years of broken bones, broken hearts, sore heads, passive aggression, regular aggression, several arrests, questionable skin infections, and a busload of infuriated tour managers, Bluejuice are announcing they are calling it quits at the end of 2014.¡±

During an interview with triple j¡¯s Matt Okine and Alex Dyson, the outrageous front-men said that they wanted to go ¡°out on a high note.¡±

¡°It¡¯s been 13 years¡± Jake said. ¡°And we don¡¯t want to be a shit band and we don¡¯t want to hang on until you lose interest in us. So we¡¯re releasing one new song, and we¡¯re punching as hard as we ever did. It¡¯s not the worst thing that¡¯s ever going to happen. We¡¯re not dead yet.¡±

Bluejuice¡¯s Stavros also hinted that the band might sneak in a festival appearance before leaving the stage for good.

The new single, titled ¡®I¡¯ll Go Crazy¡¯, was produced by Dann Hume (Sticky Fingers, Alpine) and was co-written by Alex Burnett (Sparkadia) and Jake Stone. With lyrics like, ¡°I feel like a silent movie star/When I fall down everyone gets to laugh along¡± and a cocktail of poppy hooks and catchy guitar riffs, ¡®I¡¯ll Go Crazy¡¯ is the perfect musical adieu to fans. It¡¯s out now via iTunes, so give it a listen.

To commemorate their career, Bluejuice will be releasing Retrospectable, a compilation album, comprised of tracks from their three studio albums ¨C debut full-length Problems (2007), breakout LP Head of the Hawk (2009) and 2011¡äs Company.

Bluejuice will hit Aussie highways one last time this September and October to say adios to fans in the best way possible; with the wacky, high-energy live show that characterised their career.

In the words of Bluejuice, ¡°It will be Bluejuice¡¯s destructive last hurrah, so catch them going out the only way they know how: deafeningly loud, a bit drunk, and dancing maniacally into the night.¡±

So don¡¯t miss your last chance to see the Aussie pranksters in all their lyrca-wearing glory. Check below for full details.
