Melbourne singer-songwriter Vance Joy has confirmed that his debut album Dream Your Life Away is set to drop Friday, September 5 via Mushroom Group label Liberation Music.

Still riding high from the success of last year¡¯s single ¡®Riptide¡¯, which topped the 2013 Triple J Hottest 100 chart with its breezy ukulele, gentle sense of humour and lyrics like ¡°I was scared of dentists and the dark, I was scared of pretty girls and starting conversations¡­¡±

The 23-year-old crooner confirmed details of his forthcoming album after they were leaked by music app Shazam. Dream Your Life Away was recorded in the US with the expert hands of producer Ryan Hadlock (Foo Fighters, Gossip, The Lumineers). ¡®Riptide¡¯ is among of 13 tracks on the record, including the album¡¯s first single ¡®Mess Is Mine¡¯.

After teasing fans on Facebook, Vance Joy debuted ¡®Mess Is Mine¡¯ on Triple J last week. The melodic single is one of the more direct love songs Vance has written, and it¡¯s about embracing someone fully, flaws and all.

¡°It¡¯s messy, but the mess of life is the good thing. The special thing about relationships is taking on the good and the bad and the messy aspects,¡± the Melbournian told Lewi McKirdy on Triple J.

Last year Joy signed a record deal with Atlantic for all territories, except for Australian and New Zealand. It seems the Aussie singer made a lasting impression on Atlantic Records A&R Stefan Max, because he had only praise to offer Joy.

¡°From the moment Craig Kallman and I heard the first demos, we knew this was something truly special. It¡¯s not very often you find an artist whose every song moves you in some way.¡±

It would seem that Joy¡¯s dance card is rather full as of late. Having recently played at the iconic Glastonbury Festival in the UK, Joy will return to Aussie shores to serenade fans as part of Splendour In The Grass later this month, before jetting off again to play Lollapalooza in the US.
