Matt Healy of British alt-rock outfit The 1975, has revealed plans to release a second album next year.

The 1975 frontman recently told Billboard that the band, who are currently in Australia to play Splendour In The Grass, plan to tour until January 2015 before hitting the studio to record their sophomore album.

¡°We¡¯ve been (writing) quite a lot and there¡¯s a lot of new music for the next record ¨C but I¡¯m not supposed to talk about it at the moment¡± Healy told Billboard. The band, he adds, aims to ¡°put out an album two years to the day when we put out the last one ¨C or at least as close as we can get. So it will come out on a Monday (Tuesday in the U.S.) in September of 2015.¡±

Although Healy is keeping shut about the new record, he did tell Digital Spy that he doesn¡¯t make music toward a specific concept, instead, the band¡¯s debut self-titled release resembled an 80¡¯s movie soundtrack. The suave singer also proclaimed his love for 90¡¯s pop music, specifically, The Backstreet Boys.

¡°I love Backstreet Boys. ¡®As Long As You Love Me¡® is a great pop song, I mean it¡¯s an amazing melody line and it does some very clever things¡± said Healy. He added, that fans might even see some 90¡¯s pop influences on the new record. ¡°We¡¯ll see what happens, I mean there¡¯s a lot of, like, Backstreet Boys and stuff on it.

A band of almost 11 years, The 1975 went from basically unknown to renowned in a deliriously rapid period of time. The English alt-rocker¡¯s self-titled debut album was unleashed unto the world last September, skyrocketing to the No.1 spot on the UK charts and No.8 on the Billboard Top Rock Album survey, with singles such as ¡®Chocolate¡¯ and ¡®Girls¡¯.

Currently in Australia to join the stellar Splendour In The Grass lineup, The 1975 will play three additional sideshows while in Oz, performing to sold-out crowds of what will assuredly be hyperventilating and screaming girls at Sydney¡¯s Enmore Theatre and Melbourne¡¯s The Hi-Fi.
