Odd Future members Hodgy Beats and Left Brain have released a new 11-track mixtape titled INSA (I Need Some Answers) under the moniker MellowHype.

The OFWGKTA offshoot, comprised of technical rapper Hodgy Beats and producer Left Brain, have a number of releases to their name, from 2011¡¯s BlackenedWhite to 2012¡¯s Numbers album. INSA, however, marks the fourth mixtape the pair has released under the MellowHype moniker, and follows on from 2010¡¯s mixtape ¡®YelloWhite¡¯ and 2012¡¯s ¡®MELLOWHYPEWEEK¡¯.

According to the experimental hip-hop duo, ¡°MellowHype is a lifestyle. A lifestyle in which they live by.¡±

Fader recently described INSA as ¡°a shy away from the more extreme, animated imagery that dominates Odd Future¡¯s output.¡± Instead, the hip-hop pair has embraced the real, exploring everything from paying bills for family members to Hodgy¡¯s formative years, growing up in Trenton, New Jersey.

The new 11-track release presents an obvious improvement from Hodge, who is able to channel his kinetic verses and deliver compelling songs. From references to ex-Lakers and eating habits in ¡®Nowadays¡¯ ¨C with lyrics like, ¡°Pickin¡¯ the skin off chickens and skipping on grandma dinner rolls¡± ¨C to the inclusion of Syd Tha Kid on ¡®The Daze¡¯, MellowHype maintain the free-for-all, anarchic feeling that is often seen in earlier Odd Future releases.

The Odd Future members recently released the music video for their single ¡®Nowadays¡¯, which sees the pair riding four-wheelers across sand and soaring over jumps, as Hodge spits pop culture references at the camera (Mars Attacks, Karate Kid, Inspector Gadget). Motocross suits have never looked so thug.
