Ed Sheeran is playing the role of cupid again, with plans to set up Taylor Swift, 24, and the newly single Orlando Bloom, 37. Although Ed is currently spoken for, dating radio promotions assistant Athina Andrelos, he is eager to set up companion Swift with the Lord of The Rings star.

Sheeran first met Bloom when he wrote ¡®I See Fire¡¯ for the second installment of the The Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug, and the two became fast friends.

¡°I met [Orlando] at The Hobbit: The Desolation Of Smaug premieres in LA and Germany, so we spent four days together¡± Sheeran told irishexaminer.com. ¡°He¡¯s so lovely and really cool, and they live in the same building, so the magic might present itself, eventually.¡±

There have been reports that Bloom has been chasing Swift for a while, begging her for date, but she is playing coy. Perhaps we¡¯ll hear all about it in a song on album number five.

It¡¯s not the first time music¡¯s favourite ginger has pointed Cupid¡¯s arrow at an unlikely couple. The British crooner introduced former Friends star Courtney Cox to Snow Patrol¡¯s Johnny McDaid, who recently announced their engagement. It would seem that Sheeran is giving out love like number one hits.

In the same interview, Sheeran revealed some insider knowledge on what it takes to be part if an A-list, or A-Team, clique.

¡°Just be reliable when shit goes down¡± said ¡®Don¡¯t¡¯ singer. ¡°Johnny and Gary [Lightbody, Snow Patrol¡¯s frontman] were there most of last year, which was a tough 12 months. They helped me through that.¡±

He went on to say, ¡°It¡¯s hard to hold down relationships and friendships when you travel so much. I¡¯d been on tour for three years, got back and everything fell on me.¡±

It may all be rumours at the moment, and Taylor Swift may be playing hard-to-get, but we hope for the love of her fifth album that she has the inspiration to write some more of her trademark angsty, pop tracks that we all love to belt out in the shower. Perhaps, Bloom should bring out the big guns, that is, throw on Legolas¡¯ blonde locks and whisper sweet nothings to Swift in Elvish.
