ARIA have given Aussie music fans a snapshot of the current music trends, releasing their mid-year charts for the Top 100 Singles and Albums of 2014 to June 30.

Australian acts have had a strong start to the year, with 24 singles and 35 albums homegrown outfits featuring on the Top 100 chart, which is a massive increase from last year.

Aussies were on top for 12 out of the 26 weeks on the singles charts, with Justice Crew, the hip-hop dance crew from the fourth season of Australia¡¯s Got Talent, breaking the record for Australian No.1¡¯s with their single ¡®Que Sera¡¯, which topped the charts for nine consecutive weeks.

Despite this feat, Justice Crew placed No.5 on the top 100 singles list, behind Pharrell William¡¯s smash-hit ¡®Happy¡¯ (No.1), A Great Big World Feat. Christina Aguilera (No.2), Sheppard (No.3), and Clean Bandit Feat. Jess Glyne (No.4).

The Very Best by INXS topped the mid-year album chart, spending seven weeks at No.1. Their 1987 album Kick also featured at No.39, thanks to their recent mini-series, INXS: Never Tear Us Apart, which was watch by more than four million people.

Other homegrown talent on the albums chart includes: The Amity Affliction (No.15), John Butler Trio (No.16), Rufus (No.25), Iggy Azalea (No.40) Bliss n Eso (No.42), Violent Soho (No.44), 360 (No.48), Dan Sultan (No.50), Boy and Bear (No.58), The Jezabels (No.72), Illy (No.75), Neil Finn and Paul Kelly (No.78), Thundamentals (No.79) and Ball Park Music (#96).

Although there are a few cookie-cutter ¡®artists¡¯ and best of collections featured on the albums chart (Nickleback, Pitbull), there is some musical diamonds in the rough, such as Coldplay (No.3), London Grammar (No.8), Artic Monkeys (No.9) Lana Del Rey (at No.26 with Ultraviolence and No.62 with Born to Die ) and The Black Keys (No.38) and Gabrielle Aplin (No.61).

Not only have Australian artists seen increased success locally, but they are making their stamp globally. Mullumbibmy, NSW-born Iggy Azalea set a new record with her track, ¡®Fancy¡¯ ¨C holding the top spot on the UK Billboard Hot 100 for the most weeks for a female rapper, ever. Also, Western Sydney band 5 Seconds Of Summer soared to No.1 in the UK and No.2 in the US recently with their debut single, ¡®She Looks So Perfect¡¯.

ARIA chief executive Dan Rosen said: ¡°The year to date has been remarkable for the success of Australian artists both here and across the globe. It has been a while since we have seen this many Australian artists rise to the top-end of the charts, in particular on the Singles Chart. It is definitely a very exciting time for Australian music fans to cheer on and support our local artists.¡±
