Sydney¡¯s extreme crackdown on alcohol-fueled violence continues, with the introduction of new regulations that will severely limit what people can drink after midnight.

From July 18, patrons at bars, pubs and clubs across central Sydney will no longer be able to buy shots, doubles and pre-mixed drinks with more than five percent alcohol content after midnight.

Patrons will be subject to a four drink maximum after midnight and a two drink maximum after 2am to prevent ¡°stockpiling¡± before the 3am cutoff.

There will also be restrictions on ¡°high risk drinks¡±, including discounted drinks promoted by drink cards, social media and flyers. If you are seen drinking while approaching a venue you will now be refused entry, and don¡¯t even think about wearing outlaw bikie gang ¡°colours¡± because you will be banned from the venue.

The blanket restrictions will be in place across licensed venues within ¡°the CBD, entertainment precinct¡±- which stretches west to Darling Harbour, north to The Rocks, south to parts of Surry Hills and east to parts of Potts Point.

The new measures will also affect bar staff and security staff, who will be required to hold Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) competency cards from October.

Restaurants and ¡°tourist accommodation establishments¡± are exempt from the new restrictions.

The measures, however severe they may seem, are a response to a series of alcohol-fueled violent assaults and king-hit attacks across Sydney, like the fatal assault on teenager Thomas Kelly in 2012.

Notorious nightclub district, Kings Cross was hit first with tough, alcohol restrictions, including 1.30am lockout, identity scanners, 24-hour ¡®time-outs¡¯ and drink limits.

While the new restrictions are bound to anger venue owners and patrons, alike, the Police and NSW Ministers have said that the restrictions in Kings Cross have led to a reduction in violence, a statistic they hope will be mirrored by Sydney.

A break down of the new Sydney CBD alcohol service restrictions from July 18:
? No shots, doubles or premixed drinks with over five percent alcohol content after midnight (excluding genuine cocktails)?
? Four drinks per person maximum after midnight
? Two drinks per person maximum after 2am
? No alcohol service at all between 3am and 5am
