British folk singer Mark Rosenberg, aka Passenger, has announced that he will be returning to Australian shores in 2015.

Passenger will play a string of shows in January and February in Australian capital cities off the back of the release of his new album, Whispers ¨C out Friday June 6.

It follows the release of 2012¡¯s All The Little Lights, whose enchanting ballad ¡®Let Her Go¡¯ shot Passenger into the charts ¨C ¡®Let Her Go¡¯ was the third highest selling single in 2013 in Australia ¨C and into the consciousness of listeners around the globe.

Whispers marks the sixth release to Passenger¡¯s name, with some of the tracks dating back to before the ¡®Let Her Go¡¯ pandemonium began. Recorded alongside long-term collaborator Chris Vallego, Passenger assures fans that Whispers is a feel-good record. ¡°This is easily the most ¡®up¡¯ album I¡¯ve ever made,¡± says the 29-year-old. ¡°It¡¯s quite cinematic. There are lots of big stories and big ideas. There are also some sombre moments about loneliness and death but, hey, it wouldn¡¯t be a Passenger album without those. Mostly though, it¡¯s a really positive album.¡±

Passenger¡¯s numerous visits Down Under have granted him somewhat of an adopted-Aussie status, with the bearded singer himself commenting that if it weren¡¯t for his loyal Australian fans he probably wouldn¡¯t be making music today.

With the recent release of his lead single, ¡®Heart¡¯s On Fire¡¯ ¨C a romantic ballad with lyrics like, ¡°Well I don¡¯t know where and I don¡¯t know when/?But I know we¡¯ll be lovers again¡± ¨C Passenger has earned a steady rotation on the airwaves. The track, a nostalgic song about ill-timed love and the lingering possibility of a future relationship, sets the tone for his new album. You can almost visualise an arena full of Aussie¡¯s waving their lighters and swaying to the sweetly sung ballad.
