American melodic death metal frontrunners DevilDriver and Tennessee death metal outfit Whitechapel have announced that they will be joining forces for an Australian tour this September.

Presented by Soundwave Touring, the two titans of the metal genre will slash their way across the East Coast, playing three dates in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne.

It would appear that WhiteChapel made good on their promise to return to Aussie shores, after a death in one of the band member¡¯s families prompted the cancellation of their scheduled appearance at this year¡¯s Soundwave Festival.

The band were set to replace Newsted, the heavy rock band of ex-Metallica bassist Jason Newsted, on the Megadeth sidewave until both bands ended up pulling out of the festival, leaving promoter AJ Maddah ¡°heartbroken¡±.

However, the 6-piece return bearing gifts ¨C a slew of new music from their fifth studio album, Our Endless War, which dropped in April this year and debuted in the US Top 10 Chart.

Following the tour announcement, the band took to Twitter to tweet to Aussie fans: ¡°We will be joining DevilDriver in Australia this September for a small run of special shows, see you there Aussies.¡±

Still touring off the back of the success of their sixth album, 2013¡¯s Winter Kills, DevilDriver will undoubtedly deliver a crushing live performance that is nothing short of brutal. At Download 2007, the heavy music heavyweights arguably generated one of the largest circle pits ever seen by mankind, and are renowned for melting faces and inciting chaos.

Substream Magazine described their mosh pit as ¡°lethal¡± during their current US tour. They wrote: ¡°Devildriver hijacked the stage and dragged crowds straight through the gates of hell and directly down the throat of the eternally damned.¡±

Tickets go on sale Friday June 20 at 9am. So be sure to get your hands on one. It¡¯s going to be brutal!
