AMC has renewed Breaking Bad spin-off Better Call Saul for a 13-episode second season, while their first season has been delayed until 2015.

Despite producers originally planning to premiere the hour-long drama in November this year, the first season will not air until early 2015. ¡°When introducing any series, especially one with the DNA of Breaking Bad, there are countless factors to consider in making sure the show gets the launch it deserves,¡± said AMC president Charlie Collier.

He went on to say: ¡°We have a strong history with Vince, Peter Gould, Bob, the studio and so many involved with this production; we are enjoying the process on Saul and all share a focus on making it a true television event. No half measures.¡±

Better Call Saul will chronicle the life and crimes of corrupt lawyer Saul Goodman (Bob Odenkirk), prior to Breaking Bad.

Breaking Bad¡¯s Aaron Paul hopes to reprise his role as small-time meth dealer and wannabe thug, Jesse Pinkman, on the new series, while it is rumoured that Bryan Cranston (Walter White) might make a cameo.

Breaking Bad show runner Vince Gilligan is set to direct the pilot episode, before handing over the show to Breaking Bad writer-director Peter Gould. Gilligan confirmed that both Brian Cranston and Aaron Paul have shown an interest in the project.

¡°The sky¡¯s the limit with a prequel. Everybody who¡¯s now deceased in the Breaking Bad world is obviously still alive. You never know who might turn up and when and where¡± said Gilligan.

Jonathon Banks, who played Saul¡¯s trusted private investigator Mike Ehrmantraut in Breaking Bad, will also reprise his role in the spin-off series.

Although the new series will include some original BB cast members, it is important to note that it will be Saul Goodman¡¯s world, not Walter White¡¯s. There may be some overlap in terms of plot, however Gilligan said: ¡°It will have to succeed on its own terms as its own show. If it doesn¡¯t, it won¡¯t be satisfying, and satisfaction is the key word. We want to satisfy.¡±
