The sequel to The Inbetweeners movie has officially been confirmed and it will be out in UK cinemas in August 2014. The follow-up to the 2011 film will begin shooting later this year according to the press release by Channel 4, the studio behind the show and the movie.

The press release did confirmed that the original quartet of Simon Bird, Joe Thomas, James Buckley and Blake Harrison will all reprise their roles from the hit TV series. The shows creators, Iain Morris and Damon Beesley said in the statement: ¡°We couldn¡¯t be more excited to be making another Inbetweeners movie with Simon, Joe, James and Blake¡±

Frankly it¡¯s pathetic how much we¡¯ve all missed each other. A new chapter in the lives of the Inbetweeners feels like the very least we can do to thank the fans for their phenomenal response to the first movie.¡±

Rumours of a sequel have been generating for a while now, with Bird saying that sequel will come, it just needed some time to be finalised. ¡°Yes we are doing another movie, but writing it takes a lot longer than people assume,¡± Bird said.

¡°When the last movie was such a success, people think you can just go ahead and do another just like it straight away. But the writers have to have time to work on the script and come up with ideas. I also think us actors wanted just a little bit of a break.¡±

The Sun reported that the sequel could see the boys head down to Australia for another party filled adventure. The first film showed the boys holiday on the Greek island of Crete. The film became the highest-grossing comedy film in UK box office history with takings of ?45million.

The original TV show ran for three series on E4 between 2008 and 2010, and such was its success that an American remake was announced. It got the axed just after one season.
