Game Of Thrones Announces New Character!

Game Of Thrones

With season three just finishing, the preparation for season four of Game Of Thrones has already begun with a new cast member joining the crew.

Chilean actor Pedro Pascal will play the role of Dornish Prince Oberyn Martell, also known as the sexual, yet devious Red Viper.

Pascal, who had recurring roles on The Good Wife, Graceland and Red Widow was the right man for the job, according to show-runners David Benioff and Dan Weiss.

“We found a fellow who can handle the job description and make it seem effortless,” said the pair. “He wasn’t easy to find and he won’t be easy to stop.”

The duo went on to tell Entertainment Weekly that finding the right person who had the charm to play the Red Viper was a challenge.

“This was a tough one. The Red Viper is sexy and charming, yet believably dangerous; intensely likeable, yet driven by hate. The boys love him, the girls love him, and he loves them all back. Unless your last name is Lannister.”

Prince Oberyn Martell is a hot-blooded, quick-witted character, who comes to King’s Landing to tie up loose ends with the Lannisters. His nickname comes from the rumors that he dips his sword in poison, so that his enemies can die a horrible death.

Author of the series George RR Martin has praise the casting of Pascal, despite not being presented during auditions.

“I wasn’t present for Pedro Pascal’s audition, but I understand that he really killed it with his reading.

“And since his casting was announced, the producer of another TV show on which he appeared recently has written me to say how terrific Pascal is, and to congratulate us on the casting. So I suspect that he will turn out to be a wonderful Red Viper.”

Filming for season four will begin in July with the season to premiere early next year.
