If you¡¯re a music lover and you haven¡¯t jumped on and made a Twitter account yet, then seriously what are you waiting for? The social networking giant (Yes, that little bird is quite a giant nowadays) has launched its very own music application for smartphones and tablets.

Yet, you can hold off on making an account right away, with the website only giving access to certain music ¡®influencers¡¯ in an attempt to raise awareness of the new application. When the page was launched to the public, it was later edited to an ¡®invite-only¡¯ notice, similar to the likes of the old-aged MySpace.

So those lucky celebs that managed to get invited to this groundbreaking music party include the likes of Wiz Khalifa and Ryan Seacrest who tweeted their pleasure regarding the new app.

The functions of the new app reveal that the service will have the classic Twitter functions such as ¡°following¡± and ¡°tweeting¡±, but will also allow users to research artist history, charts and shows and the ability to buy songs. Also there are direct links to Spotify, Rdio, iTunes, Soundcloud, VEVO and YouTube for music streaming and viewing.

Twitter will also use the Aussie-made (Yes! Australian pride right here) system, We Are Hunted. The program tracks the most popular songs across the Internet and social media and provides it right to the hands of Twitter users.

It¡¯s a huge move on Twitter¡¯s part, as it has the potential to become one of the world¡¯s most popular music apps. It sees this as a step to challenge Facebook, their social media rival. Facebook have the popular Instagram application, which allows photos to be displayed and shared with friends.

If this app is as successful as all the celebs are making it out to be, Facebook be on alert; last December there were over 500 million users worldwide who were registered on Twitter. Following this bad-boy expect more to jump on board.
